Our Maltby nursery joined forces with the community for Great British Spring Clean | Keep Britain Tidy and Homepage | Keep Britain Tidy, turning a local litter pick into a heart-warming display of civic pride.
The children enthusiastically took part in the litter pick at Manor Fields skate park in Maltby. They were supplied with high-visibility vests and equipment by Rotherham Council’s Love Where You Live team, which enabled them to safely collect litter from the playing fields and surrounding areas.
The young volunteers showed great energy and commitment as they worked together to gather rubbish. Their efforts were warmly welcomed by local residents, who greeted the group with encouragement during the activity.
Joseph Newton, Townships Operative with Community Safety and Street Scene Regeneration & Environment, was on hand to assist with the pick, providing support and guidance to the children and helping to make the session a success.
The nursery’s initiative expanded its usual activities into the wider community, giving the children a valuable opportunity to learn about environmental responsibility from an early age. By taking part in these national campaigns, the youngsters helped to make a positive difference to their local area while developing a sense of pride in looking after where they live.
Organisers praised the children’s enthusiasm and the strong community spirit demonstrated on a bright spring day in Maltby. Such hands-on involvement is an excellent way to foster a cleaner, greener future for the borough and to encourage the next generation to care for their environment.
